Your Miniature Life

in Life

I am writing this article from the tourist town of Livingstone - hundreds of miles away from home. I am on a work related trip to the southern part of my country. Away from home and the people I love so much, I have used the opportunity to bring more perspective in my life.

Yesterday, I bought a wonderful book by Robin Sharma; a very refreshing volume entitled "The Greatness Guide". Whatever made me buy this volume; I believe I was guided.

In the fifth chapter of this book, Robin Sharma talks about what I have been contemplation on, in the last few days. A simple and yet powerful idea: your days define your life.

Have you ever wondered how that we want to "rush through" a day without giving thought to living great in that day but yet desire to live a "great" life? Who lied to us that we can spend our days in mediocrity and yet live a full and great life?

I echo the words of James Allen when he said that "there is a sense in which every day may be regarded as the beginning of a new life, in which one can think, act, and live newly, and in a wiser and better spirit." Every day is our miniature life in the bigger picture of our entire life on earth. And the quality of our whole life on earth will be exemplified by the quality of our everyday life. As Robin Sharma says, "your days are your life in miniature. As you live your hours, so you create your years. As you live your days, you craft your life; what you do today is actually creating your future."

You will therefore get out of your life, exactly what you put in your days; in every moment that you live. This is what it really means to live a day at a time; it is to look at every day as your small life in which you are to fully apply yourself. If we can just take care of the moments of life and the individual days of our lives, our whole life will "take care of itself" in beautiful ways; life in all its magnificence is just the accumulation of these moments.

"Every day is a fresh beginning;

Every morn is the world made new,

Ye who are weary of sorrow and sinning,

Here is a beautiful hope for you,

A hope for me and a hope for you."
I must say that after these few days of reflection, my life will never be the same. My days will never go without a plan. An unplanned day is a recipe for an unplanned life. I will take every day and live as great as I can in that day. Whatever must be done today, will have to be done; I will make every moment a pleasure.

The bigger picture of your life will take up the character of its moments; its days. Today can be the beginning of a new way of life for you too. All you need to do is decide. Will you?
